Knowledge is Power
"There are four sorts of men:
He who knows not and knows not he knows not: he is a fool -- shun him;
He who knows not and knows he knows not: he is simple -- teach him;
He who knows and knows not he knows: he is asleep -- wake him;
He who knows and knows he knows: he is wise -- follow him."
There are different sources for this saying: Hobbes -Leviathan, Lady Burton - in Life of
Sir Richard Burton, Arabian Proverb , even Bruce Lee, T. Dodsworth, Persian Proverb,
Old Chinese saying. If you know the correct source, drop us a line.

The Disaster of Negative Thinking (Author unknown, if you know, drop us a line)
The subconscious mind makes no distinction between constructive and destructive thought
impulses. It works with the material we feed it, through our thought impulses. The subconscious
mind will translate into reality a thought driven by fear just as readily as it wins
translates into reality a thought driven by courage, or faith. Just as electricity win turn the wheels of
industry, and render useful service if used constructively, or snuff out life if wrongly used, so
will the law of autosuggestion lead you to peace and prosperity, or down into the valley of misery,
failure, and death, according to your degree of understanding and application of it.
If you fill your mind with fear, doubt and unbelief in our ability to connect with and use the forces of
Infinite Intelligence, the Jaw of autosuggestion win take this spirit of unbelief and use it as
a pattern by which your subconscious mind will translate it into its physical equivalent.
Like the wind which carries one ship east, and another west, the law of autosuggestion will lift you
up or pull you down, according to the way you set your sails of thought.
The law of autosuggestion, through which any person may rise to altitudes of achievement, which
stagger the imagination, is well described in the following verse:
"If you think you are beaten, you are, If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win, but you think you can't, It is almost certain you won't.
"If you think you'll lose, you're lost, For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow's will-It's all in the 'tale of mind.
"If you think you are outclassed, you are, You've got to think high to rise, You've go to be sure of
yourself before You win a prize.
"'Life's battles won't always go To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!"
Observe the words which have been emphasized, and you will catch the
deep meaning which the poet had in mind.
Ideas that Lead to Success Begin as Definiteness of Purpose.
It is a well-known fact that ideas are the only assets, which have
no fixed values. It is equally well known that ideas are the beginning
of all achievements.
Ideas form the foundation of all fortunes, the starting point of all
inventions. They have mastered the air above us and the waters of the
oceans around us; they have en-abled us to harness and use the
invisible energies of the universe.
All ideas begin as the result of Definiteness of Purpose. The
phonograph was nothing but an abstract idea until Edison organized it
through definiteness of purpose, and sub-mitted it to the subconscious
portion of his brain where it was projected into the great reservoir
of Infinite Intelligence, from which a workable plan was flashed back
to him. And this workable plan he translated into a machine which
worked.
The philosophy of individual achievement began as an idea in the mind
of Andrew Carnegie. He backed his idea with definiteness of purpose,
and now the philosophy is available for the benefit of millions of
people throughout the civilized world.
Moreover, his idea has more than an average chance of becoming one of
the great leavening forces of the world, for it is now being wed by
an ever increasing multitude of people as a means of guiding them
through a world of frenzied hysteria.
The great North American continent known as the "New World" was
discovered and brought under the influence of civilization as the
result of an idea, which was born in the mind of a humble sailor and
backed by definiteness of purpose. And the time is at hand when that
idea, born more than four hundred years ago, may lift our nation to
a position where it will become the most enlightened frontier of
civilization.
Any idea that is held in the mind, emphasized, feared or reverenced,
begins at once to clothe itself In the most con-venient and
appropriate physical form that is available.
That which men believe, talk about, and fear, whether it be good or
bad, has a very definite way of making its appearance in one form or
another. Let those who are struggling to free themselves from the
limitations of poverty and misery not forget this great truth, for it
applies to an individual just as it does to a nation of people.
"No Problem Can Stand The Assault of Sustained Thinking" (Unknown)
Most Leaders Begin As Followers by W. Clement Stone. Analyzed by Dr. Carl Barray,
Hamburg, Germany. Annotoation in Italic.
Broadly speaking, there are two types of people in the world. Not true, there are thousands of
categories of types of people.
One type is known as leaders, and the other as followers. Decide at the
outset whether you intend to become a leader in your chosen calling,
or remain a follower. The difference in compensation is vast. The
follower cannot reasonably expect the compensation, to which a
leader is entitled, although many followers make the mistake of
expecting such pay.
It is no disgrace to be a follower. Most people are. And yes, it is a disgrace, but you may have
the chance to change it, not everybody does have the skills to become a leader, don not be
fooled by gurus who say "everybody can..."
On the other hand, it is no credit to remain a follower. Most great leaders began in the capacity
of followers. They became great leaders because they were intelligent followers. NO, they became
leaders because they were fed up with following orders. and thought how stupid their
leader was, realizing they could do better than their superior!
With few exceptions, the man who cannot follow a leader intelligently, cannot become an efficient
leader. The man, who can follow a leader most efficiently, is usually the man who develops
into leadership most rapidly. An intelligent follower has many advantages, among them the
opportunity to acquire knowledge from his leader.
The Major Attributes of Leadership.
The following are important factors of leadership: Just some attributes he should say!
1). Unwavering courage based upon knowledge of self, and of one's occupation. No follower
wishes to be dominated by a leader who lacks selfconfidence and courage. Such a leader very long
will dominate no intelligent follower.
2). Self control. The man who cannot control himself can never
control others. Self control sets a mighty example for one's
followers, which the more intelligent will emulate.
3). A keen sense of justice. Without a sense of fairness and justice, no leader can command and
retain the respect of his followers. Baloney, most leaders do not care about justice. Leaders
care about POWER, INTRIGUES. THERE IS NO JUSTICE, NOT EVEN IN
AMERICAN COURTS.
4). Definiteness of decision. The man who wavers in his decision, shows that he is not sure of
himself, cannot lead others succesfully.
5). Definiteness of plans. The successful leader must plan his
work, and work his plan. A leader who moves by guesswork, without practical, definite plans, is
comparable to a ship without a rudder. Sooner or later he will land on the rocks. The secret is
how to develop a plan using the right methods and resources, leaving space for intuiton!
6). The habit of doing more than paid for. One of the penalties of
leadership is the necessity of willingness, upon the part of the
leader, to do more than he requires of his followers. I absolutely agree on that!
7). A pleasing personality. No slovenly, careless person can become a successful leader.
Leadership calls for respect. Followers will not respect a leader who does not grade high on all of
the factors of a pleasing personality.
8). Sympathy and understanding. The successful leader must be in sympathy with his followers.
Moreover, he must understand them and their problems.
9). Mastery of detail. Successful leadership calls for mastery of the details of the leader's position.
10). Willingness to assume full responsibility. The successful leader must be willing to assume
responsibility for the mistakes and the shortcomings of his followers. If he tries to shift this
responsibility, he will not remain the leader. If one of his followers makes a mistake, and shows
himself incompetent, the leader must consider that it is he who failed. Not true, a leader only claims
responsibility for his very own actions. But he should fire the person who failed or provide
better training.
11). Cooperation. The successful leaders must understand and apply the principle of cooperative
effort and are able to induce his followers to do the same. Leadership calls for power, and power
calls for cooperation. It calls more for delegation.
12). Far the most effective, is leadership by consent of, and with the
sympathy of the followers. The second is leadership by force, without
the consent and sympathy of the followers.
History is filled with evidences that leadership by force cannot
endure. The downfall and disappearance of dictators and kings is
significant. It means that people will not follow forced leadership
indefinitely.
Napoleon, Mussolini, Hitler, were examples of leadership by force.
Their leadership passed. Leadership-by-consent of the followers is
the only brand which can endure!
Men may follow the forced leadership temporarily, but they will not
do so willingly. The new brand of leadership will embrace the eleven
factors of leadership, described in this article, as well as some other factors. The man who makes
these the basis of his leadership will find abundant opportunity to lead in any walk of life.
Dr. Barray (Cosmopolitan University) says: Do not overestimate motivators like W.
Clement Stone. or Napoleon Hill. Use your own critical thinking skills!
How to help yourself (and others) to a fortune!
by Lesley Anne Lowe
I recently read an article about one of the most
successful life insurance salesman in America.
I forget the exact figures, but his earnings were
absolutely massive - at least $1 million a year.
Most businesses involve some element of 'sales',
whether face to face, on the phone, by mail, or
some other method. Few people would argue against
the view that selling life insurance has to be among
the most difficult tasks in business.
It's a product which most people just don't want
to think about. The person being sold to won't
benefit personally from the product (they'll be dead!)
and the competition is fierce.
To add to the difficulty, life assurance
salesmen are not a popular breed. Being introduced
to a life assurance salesman puts most people
on their guard.
So, anyone who succeeds in selling in the most
difficult of situations has to be able to teach
the rest of us something - people who, on the
face of it, have a much easier job. The article
I read gave a number of ideas, but one philosophy
came through people don't like to be sold anything,
but they do like to buy.
When this super salesman was introduced to someone
new in a social situation, and the inevitable
question came up "What do you do for a living?"
he would reply "I buy life assurance." This clearly
puzzled most people, who said "What do you mean, you
buy life assurance?", to which he would reply "I buy
life assurance for my clients at the best possible
price. Would you like me to buy some for you?"
Can you imagine how much more effective this was
than replying "I'm a life insurance salesman," when
the question was asked.
Aside from the curiosity element of his reply, which
is powerful in itself (and an excellent example of
lateral thinking at its best), people are much more
receptive to someone who is going to help them buy
something than they are to someone who is going to
try and sell them something.
Almost everyone wants to be genuinely helped to buy
the right product or service at the best possible
price. Practically no-one wants to be sold something.
There is an important lesson to be learned from this. Most
businesses would benefit from a change in emphasis
from 'selling' to genuine 'purchase assistance'.
This means making a real effort to find out exactly
what the customer needs, and making sure that they
get it at the best possible price. In essence you
are buying for your customer, rather than selling to
him. The difference is subtle, but the end result
almost certainly more profitable.
One area where people are afraid of being sold to
- and ripped-off in the process - is the purchase
of advertising.
There are many reputable companies and advertising
agencies on the Internet, and there are many others
who will do and say almost anything to make a sale.
It's something of a minefield. Advertising companies enjoy a
similar reputation to life assurance salesman!
What if you turned the situation on it's head.
You're not an advertising agent. You 'buy the best
quality and most suitable online advertising for your
clients, at the best possible price'. Can you see how
the situation has changed? Who would you rather deal
with... an advertising salesman, or someone committed
to assisting you in finding the right publicity outlets
for your business at the best possible price? Wouldn't
you want someone like that on your side the next time
you plan what to do with your companies advertising budget?
You can see the possibilities thrown up by changing
the emphasis are truly exciting. Anyone can take
advantage of them to boost profits in an existing
business, or to use them as the cornerstone, and
unique selling proposition ,of a new one.
