The line of Aristocracy stems from a genuine hereditary primordial noble lineage of the County of Liptov (former Hungary, now Slovakia).

Pongracz of Szentmiklos and Ovar, (Knights, Baron and Counts) is one of the oldest families of the County of Liptov. The family has got the same roots as the noble families of Szent-Ivany, Szmrecsanyi (Baan - Governor) and Potturnya of Nasdad.

The first ancestor by the name of Loerinz lived about 1241.

The name stems from the family's property Szentmiklos. By a decision of the national assembly of Pozsony (now Bratislava), the former capital of Hungary, the family was granted an old castle (Ovar) in the year 1458 (June 15).

In the 15th century Pongracz was a mighty ruler and was called "The Turoci King". The Pongracz family played a major role in the history of this highland. (upper Hungary)
