Dr. Ziegler studied Medicine at the University of Rostock ( 1984 - 1990) and graduated  “magna cum laude”.
He specialized in  tropical medicine 1998,  in  diving medicine 1998, in travel medicine 1998, in emergency medicine 1995.
Positions held :  1990 – 1996 Klinikum Erfurt, Germany
1997 – 1999 University of Rostock, dept. of  tropical medicine and infectious diseases
1999 – 2004 Sophien- and Hufeland Hospital Weimar, dept. of oncology and infectiology, senior physician

Current position : Sana-Hospital Gransee, Department of internal medicine, head of department

Dr. Ziegler also lectures on  tropical medicine at the University of Jena, and on  internal medicine at the Medizinische Fachschule Jena.
