Dr. h.c. Ernest Tolj was a member of a  group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy who presented Croatian economy to the European Commission in Brussels, on October 10, 2003.  Dr.  Tolj represented small and medium business as its most renowned member in Croatia. His successful speech before the members of the European Commission contributed to the acceptance of the Croatian candidacy for European Union  membership.
